Alcohol Back-tracking

Please read the following instructions carefully.

These calculations assume that all consumed alcohol has been absorbed by the chosen event time.

The last drink should have been consumed about 0.75 hours prior to the event time.

The Widmark factor is 0.70 for males and 0.65 for females.

The elimination rate from blood is assumed to be 15 mg/100ml/hour.

If the time of the test is into the next day, add 24 hours to the time. For example, if the event time was 2300 hrs and the test time was 0113 hrs the next day, the test time should be entered as 2513 and not 0113.

The legal limit for blood is 80 mg/100ml of blood. For breath it is 35 micrograms/100 ml of breath. For urine it is 107 mg/100 ml of urine.

The following table is taken from Simpson's Forensic Medicine. Units are for Blood:

Weight of subject (kg) =

Time of test (hhmm) = For example: 2105 or 0416.

Time of event (hhmm) = The event can be the time of the accident, or any other time. Note: If the value for the time of test is less than the value for the time of event then it is assumed that the test was taken the following day. Check the Time elapsed value below is correct once the values have been calculated.

Alcohol strength v/v (percent) = Default = 3%. Used only to provide Equivalent pints.

Time elapsed between event and test times (hh:mm) =

Blood alcohol level at time of event =

Breath alcohol level at time of event =

Urine alcohol level at time of event =

Total alcohol in body at time of event =

Equivalent pints at event time (3% v/v) =
